Job Description

The Food Services Supervisor will work under the direction of the Project Managers to assist with supervising staff and coordinating activities of staff engaged in serving meals, cleaning dining rooms, washing dishes, cleaning dish washing rooms, washing pots, cleaning pot washing rooms, cleaning restrooms, removing trash and policing the outside area. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Functions:
  • May perform inspections from an announced inspection schedule, may assist with inventorying supplies and equipment as directed by the Project Manager and/or Assistant Project Manager and may forward reports of deficiencies to the Assistant Project Manager and/or Project Manager.
  • Directs and performs work assignments for various food service duties; may conduct inspections to check the completion of work assignments and to ensure compliance to contract specifications.
  • Assists with the indoctrination of new employees (In Managers Absence) in order to provide appropriate train
  • May demonstrate proper techniques to perform specific tasks, the employee is assigned, as directed
  • May instruct employees on proper use of safety equipment issued to them.
  • Informs Project Manager and/or Assistant Manager of any behaviors or incidents detrimental to the Company's relationship with Sodexo or the requirements of the contract.
  • May assist with keeping the daily log current with details of any incident or information that the following shift Management Team should be aware.
  • Contacts the Project Manager and/or Assistant Project Manager by telephone to inform them of an incident that requires their immediate response and follow any instructions given.
  • Adheres to the Company rules, technical procedures and safety policies as may be communicated verbally or in writing, in English.
  • Due to the nature of the work being performed, punctual and regular attendance is required.
  • Works under the direction of the Project Managers. Ensures goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed periods by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
  • Reports all necessary communication directly to the unit project manager.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required: High school diploma or GED; General Education; or on to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
Minimum Experience Required:
Must have One (1) year minimum experience in working in the Food Service Industry, completed two weeks training as a Mess Attendant Lead at the worksite.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. Prior experience in food services or hospitality is a plus. Ability to work in a fast- paces, team oriented environment. Physical ability to lift, carry and stand for extended periods. A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player. Knowledge and able to articulate to people at all levels of an organization. Strong customer service skills preferred
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
Certification from an approved sanitation program. Serve Safe and/or PIC (Navy Food Handlers Certification) within a 90 day period. Certificate of course completion and passing for State required Sexual Harassment Training within six (6) months of obtaining this position. Non-compliance with all or part of this section will result in demotion with possible termination.
Language Skills Required:
Ability to perform aforementioned tasks in English, read and write. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, service requests, container labels, product information, operating and maintenance instructions, directions on cleaning chemicals and other materials and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and to convert standard time into military time. Ability to perform these operations using American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Background Investigation:
Must submit all facility/ installation access credentials, for identity verification purposes to receive DBIDS access card. Must return signed verification of receiving the Job Description. Non-compliance with all or part of this job description; or failure to pass sections or be denied access of the background investigation could result in hire or possible termination.
