Job Summary Job Summary Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, plan, organize, coordinate and direct the District-wide food services operations and activities including the preparation, cooking, baking, serving, distribution and selling of food items to meet student needs; coordinate personnel, communications and record-keeping functions to meet food service needs and assure smooth, cost-effective and efficient Department activities; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel. QUALIFICATIONS FOR OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Proven leadership in food service operations — Experience managing large-scale food preparation, distribution, and kitchen staff, ideally in an educational or institutional setting. Knowledge of nutrition standards and menu planning — Familiarity with child nutrition requirements, federal/state meal program regulations (such as USDA guidelines), and the ability to develop compliant, cost-effective menus. Strong financial and administrative acumen — Ability to manage department budgets, oversee cashiering and accounting functions, and monitor operational efficiency to ensure cost-effectiveness. Supervisory and staff development experience — Demonstrated ability to hire, train, evaluate, and mentor food service personnel while fostering a productive and compliant work environment.
REQUIREMENTS
Any combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics food service management or related field and five years of increasingly responsible experience in quantity food preparation, cooking and serving, including two years in a supervisory capacity. Valid and appropriate food service certification(s). Valid State driver's license.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance and a tuberculosis clearance. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district. All candidates with a record of convictions must indicate such in the confidential/legal section of the application, which is attached to the job application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment, but a failure to list all convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal.
