Role:
Join Flintridge Riding Club as a Short Order Cook / Kitchen Lead in La Canada, CA, where you will play a vital role in delivering delicious meals to our members. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to showcase your culinary skills in a vibrant and welcoming environment. Flintridge Riding Club is seeking an experienced, energetic, and self-motivated Short Order Cook / Kitchen Lead to oversee our member kitchen operations. This is a hands-on position that combines food preparation and service with menu development, inventory management, and kitchen organization. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently, takes pride in serving quality food, and has experience developing menus that balance member satisfaction with profitability. Responsibilities Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch items for club members and guests. Develop and update seasonal menus, daily specials, and grab-and-go offerings. Price menu items appropriately to achieve food cost and profitability goals. Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering and stocking supplies. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. Follow all food safety and health department regulations. Track product usage and recommend adjustments to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Assist with food preparation for select club events as needed. Provide friendly and professional customer service to members and guests. Collaborate with club management on menu planning and kitchen operations. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in a café, restaurant, country club, or similar food service environment. Experience creating menus and pricing food items. Strong understanding of food costs, portion control, and inventory management. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards. Reliable, punctual, and organized. Current Food Handler Card required; Food Manager Certification preferred. Desired Skills Experience operating a small café, snack bar, or club kitchen. Ability to create simple, fresh, appealing menu offerings. Experience with ordering, vendor relationships, and inventory control. Interest in helping grow and improve a member-focused food service program.
