Job Description

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
Education:
GS-12 and GS-13: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.
Experience:
GS-12 and GS-13: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
Such experience must have demonstrated:
GS-12: Experience in managing a large food service operation, ensuring food is prepared in compliance with the best cooking, baking and meat cutting principles and that food is palatable, of proper consistency and temperature. Experience in setting up work schedules for subordinates and inmates working in scheduled shifts. Experience in supervising the operation of a large subsistence storeroom plus large meat and vegetable coolers. Experience in interviewing and assigning workers to specific details taking into regard their experience, interests and abilities. GS-13: Experience in planning the layout and design of the department and determining equipment requirements. Experience in providing specialized programs and functions such as satellite feeding, medical/religious diets, and vocational training. Experience in supervising the operation of a large subsistence storeroom plus large meat and vegetable coolers and monitoring the quality and condition of the products upon delivery. Experience in developing detailed estimates and initial requests for funds required to operate the department and monitoring the expenditure of all funds. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. •Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.•
