METROPOLITAN STATE
HOSPITAL-Located in Norwalk, Los Angeles County. This advertisement will run until filled with the following cutoff dates for review of applications: Every Friday and selections can be made. However, the Job Control will remain open until the vacancy is filled. Under supervision of the Dietetics Assistant Director-Presentation, the Food Service Supervisor II (FSS II) supervises, directs, instructs, and assists Food Service Supervisor I's in performing their duties and responsibilities directing Food Service Technician I's/II's in the areas of the Central Kitchen tray line, dishwashing, and satellite/serving kitchens and dining rooms. The FSS II reviews Food Service Supervisor I's managing of staffing to ensure maximum efficiency for tray line, dishwashing, and serving kitchens. The FSS II communicates effectively with all Presentation staff, supervisors, Production staff, office staff, and management. The FSS II reviews the Food Service Supervisor I's assignment of Food Service Technician I/II work schedules, cleaning assignments, and ensures tray line is set up correctly before starting. The FSS II provides training to new employees as well as continued training to staff assigned and/or warranted due to performance issues. The FSS II covers Food Service Supervisor I shifts when on vacation or any other time off. Additionally, the FSS II oversees the safety of the Food Service Staff and patient workers in the satellite kitchens and dining rooms. Minimum Qualifications:
Either I:
One year of experience performing the duties of a Food Service Supervisor I in the California state service.
Or II:
Two years of experience performing the duties of a Food Service Worker II in the California state service.
Or III:
Experience:
Three years of experience supervising at least ten employees engaged in the distribution and service of food in a large hotel, restaurant, or institution. This experience must have included responsibility for the training and assignment of food service employees and the maintenance of equipment and work areas.
And Education:
Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade.
Or IV:
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from college and completion of an internship in institutional management of dietetics. (Membership in the American Dietetic Association or eligibility for such membership may be substituted for the required internship.) Candidates who are in the last six months of their internship or graduate study will be admitted to the examination but they must have completed the internship or graduate work before they will be considered eligible for appointment. Service Employees International Union (SEIU)-Barganing Units 1,3,4,11,14,15,17,20 and 21.
