DATALAND
is seeking a Shift Supervisor to oversee front-line operational activities during assigned shifts and support the delivery of exceptional guest experiences within the venue's immersive exhibitions and programming. This is a •non-exempt hourly role•responsible for supervising staff during scheduled shifts, ensuring operational procedures are followed, and supporting venue leadership with daily operational execution. Position Overview The Shift Supervisor provides on-the-floor leadership during operational hours, ensuring that guest services staff and exhibit attendants perform effectively and deliver a high-quality guest experience. This role focuses on supervising staff, assigning tasks, monitoring guest flow, and supporting operational procedures during a shift. This role does not have authority to hire, terminate, discipline, or make independent operational policy decisions and instead carries out management direction during assigned shifts. Key Responsibilities - Shift Operations Lead operational execution during assigned shifts to support smooth daily venue operations. Conduct shift briefings and assign staff positions before opening or programming periods. Monitor operational readiness of galleries, guest service areas, and public spaces. Assist with opening and closing procedures following established venue protocols. Ensure staff follow operational policies, safety procedures, and guest service standards. Document operational notes or incidents that occur during the shift and communicate them to management. Monitor crowd density and gallery capacity to ensure safe guest flow and escalate concerns to management when operational thresholds are approached. Perform Opening and closing duties as required. Key Responsibilities - Staff Supervision Provide front-line supervision to exhibit attendants and guest-facing staff during shifts. Assign and adjust staff positions based on guest volume and operational needs. Provide guidance and support to employees to maintain service standards. Escalate employee performance or disciplinary matters to venue leadership or management. Assist with staff coverage coordination when operational needs change. Key Responsibilities - Guest Experience Ensure guests receive a welcoming, safe, and engaging experience throughout the venue. Monitor guest flow through galleries and immersive installations. Respond to guest questions and service concerns in a professional manner. Escalate complex guest issues to management when necessary. Key Responsibilities - Event & Programming Support Assist with operational execution of private events, tours, and special programming when scheduled. Support event setup, transitions, and operational coordination during assigned shifts. Help ensure event activities follow venue policies and safety procedures. Safety & Compliance Monitor venue safety practices and report hazards or safety concerns immediately. Assist with emergency procedures when required according to venue protocols. Ensure public spaces remain safe and accessible during operating hours. Candidate Profile 2+ years of experience in hospitality, attractions, museums, entertainment venues, or guest service environments Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role Strong communication and guest service skills Ability to remain calm and organized in high-traffic environments Experience in museums, immersive entertainment venues, or ticketed attractions Experience supervising front-of-house teams Familiarity with guest flow management or venue operations Work Environment Position is located on-site in Los Angeles, California Work occurs in a fast-paced public environment with noise, lighting effects, and high guest traffic Must be able to stand and move throughout the venue for extended periods Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds The Shift Supervisor must ensure operational coverage that allows employees to take legally required meal and rest breaks during their shifts. As a non-exempt employee, the Shift Supervisor must accurately record all hours worked using the company's timekeeping system and is entitled to overtime pay, meal periods, and rest breaks in accordance with California labor laws.
