The Role The Bar Lead sets the tone for hospitality at the bar, balancing craft, speed, cleanliness, and connection. This position plays a key leadership role during service, ensuring smooth bar operations, supporting bar staff, and maintaining the highest standards in beverage execution and guest experience. While this is not a manager or money-handling role, the Bar Lead acts as a shift supervisor for the bar team and is a go-to presence on the floor. ($24 per hour +tips) This is a five-day role: 3 days behind the bar as Bar Lead, and 2 days per week serving as Floor Supervisor for the front-of-house team. The Floor Supervisor day is non-tipped and does not participate in the tip pool ($32 per hour) Key Responsibilities Guest Experience & Floor Presence Lead by example behind the bar with warmth, professionalism, and efficiency. Greet and engage guests seated at the bar and in the dining room with genuine hospitality. Provide thoughtful drink recommendations and share knowledge of current offerings. Address and resolve guest concerns at the bar when they arise; escalate when needed. Team Leadership & Support Act as the primary support for fellow bartenders and barbacks during service. Help guide daily bar setup, prep, and breakdown. Train all new bartenders and continue to coach and mentor bar staff on house standards, recipes, and service style. Communicate clearly with FOH and kitchen teams to ensure a cohesive service flow. Service Coordination Oversee drink pacing and execution during high-volume service. Ensure all cocktails, wine, beer, and N/A beverages meet Causwells quality and presentation standards. Maintain a clean and well-organized bar area throughout service. Assist with shift notes and highlight any service issues or team updates to management post-shift. Floor Supervisor (1 day per week, non-tipped) Open or close the restaurant and oversee floor operations for the shift. Run pre-shift meetings and set daily service priorities for the FOH team. Supervise servers, hosts, and support staff during service; provide in-the-moment coaching and direction. Manage guest flow, seating, and reservations in coordination with the host team. Address and resolve guest concerns across the dining room; escalate to management when needed. Monitor service standards and pacing throughout the shift. Complete end-of-shift reporting, including service notes, incident documentation, and team updates for management. Inventory & Admin Monitor bar inventory and communicate low stock or restock needs. Weekly beverage ordering processes. Help maintain accurate recipe builds and updates in Toast. Process all beverage related invoices & scanning/coding Who You Are 3+ years bartending experience in a fast-paced, full-service or upscale-casual setting. Must embody humility, curiosity, and respect—no egos, no attitude. We're all here to grow and support each other. Minimum 1 year of experience as a Bar Lead or in a comparable leadership role within a bar program. Strong understanding of hospitality principles and front-of-house4 steps of service, with the ability to model and train others in service excellence. Deep knowledge of classic cocktails, bar technique, and current beverage trends. Basic knowledge of wine, spirits, and cocktails required, with a willingness to learn and deepen expertise. Confident and calm under pressure; capable of leading by example. Strong communicator with a team-first attitude. Detail-oriented, organized, and clean—treats the bar like a craft and a service station. Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.) and other relevant restaurant management tools (e.g., Toast, 7shifts, OpenTable) required. This role is scheduled five days per week: three days behind the bar ($24 per hour +tips) and two day as a non-tipped Floor Supervisor ($32 per hour).
