Position Summary:
Electric Maintenance & Construction (M&C)
Shift Leader:
Directs teams of Troubleshooters and Crews (outage, emergency first responders) involved in system-wide Distribution grid monitoring and restoration efforts. Analyzes and prioritizes outages to determine the most efficient procedure for restoration, which may require communicating with customers to determine restoration needs. Creates and fosters a safe work environment by maintaining compliance with company and regulatory safety procedures, policies and practices and by monitoring and ensuring the safety of employees and the public. This position includes required travel (possibly up to 20% of the time), as well as evening/night shift work and on call availability. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ A reasonable salary range is:​

Responsibilities:
Monitors the electric system utilizing the Outage Management Tool (OMT) and Field Automated Support (FAS) technologies and by ongoing communication with the Control Center. Oversees, provides direction and coaching to first responders dispatched to outage site, for both emergency and non-emergency situations. Improves outage response by ensuring outages are prioritized and analyzed to determine the most efficient procedure for restoration, which may require communicating with customers to determine restoration needs. Assesses the outage condition to determine if complete restoration is necessary or if temporary repairs are sufficient to restore power. Supports and maintains good communication about outage status and personnel with other departments which includes RMC, Distribution Operators, Dispatchers, Engineering, Estimating and Restoration to improve processes and ensure a high level of customer service. Participates in the development of investigation packages for missed outage measures. Participates in the investigation and determination of root cause for all safety related incidents. Monitors and completes job site inspections of field crew work. Regularly visits crew sites during shift to ensure safety and efficiency. Ensures proper crew sizing is established to complete required tasks. Provides coaching to crew as needed and records crew site visit outcome into appropriate system/tool. Supervises maintenance and construction work during shift, both scheduled, corrective maintenance work (i.e., GO165 compliance work) and construction work resulting from outages. Works closely with the RML (Remote Materials Lead) to ensure required material and equipment is available for crews working outside of regular business hours. Prepares activity log for transition to Electric Distribution Supervisor. Conducts electric construction work verifications as directed by company and/or regulatory requirements. Partners with Electric Distribution Supervisors to conduct, document, and resolve audits and inspections as required.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction, Field Maintenance Operations, or related electric utility experience Travel required, possibly up to 20% of the time Evening or night shift work; required on call availability
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Previous Electric Crew Foreman/Troubleshooter, Distribution Supervisor, or relief/on-call experience Journey-level status via an IBEW-approved Lineworker apprenticeship Hands-on technical skills and knowledge Knowledge of PG&E restoration procedures Knowledge of the types of materials and equipment required for outage restoration Strong verbal communication skills with a diverse workforce Decision making and prioritization skills Knowledge of electrical safety best practices and methods Leadership skills Knowledge of the bargaining unit contracts Strong customer service orientation Knowledge of control center operations and outage systems Process improvement skills and knowledge
