Summary:
We are searching for an experienced, full-time Shift Supervisor with a minimum of 1 year of specialty coffee experience and leadership experience to work with us at our cafe in Uptown Oakland, CA. Our Shift Supervisors lead by example and ensure each shift runs smoothly by supporting the team, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a positive and efficient shift day in and day out. Availability:
Our cafe is open Mon-Fri, 7A - 2:30P Availability to work 36-40 hours/week, Monday-Friday Availability to attend our quarterly team meetings is a must
Responsibilities:
Welcome customers with radical hospitality, providing friendly and respectful service Lead each shift by example, creating a positive, supportive, and accountable team environment. Support, coach, and encourage the team to deliver exceptional customer service and consistently high-quality beverages. Support management/ownership with ongoing cafe operations and cafe/company initiatives. Have exceptional knowledge of our coffee menu, offerings, brewing methods, and company mission. Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso drinks and batch brew coffee, following established recipes and quality standards. Ensure beverage quality, consistency, and presentation throughout each shift. Operate the POS system accurately and assist with opening and closing responsibilities. Delegate tasks and manage daily workflow to ensure efficient cafe operations during both busy and slow periods. Unload deliveries; stock, organize, and replenish coffee, retail, and brewing supplies. Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs or product shortages to management; order inventory. Keep equipment operational by performing routine cleaning, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting minor issues. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and sanitary cafe, coffee bar, and back-of-house environment. Help train and onboard new team members while reinforcing company standards, recipes, and hospitality expectations. Address both employee and customer concerns professionally and work to resolve issues with care; escalate larger issues immediately to management. Support your team, customers, and vendors with joy-filled enthusiasm while fostering a culture of respect, teamwork, and accountability. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 1 year of prior barista experience is a MUST with the ability to dial in and create latte art Previous leadership experience is a MUST Seeking long-term employment Positive, outgoing attitude Proactive, self-starting mentality Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and operate with a sense of urgency Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends and holidays Ability to lift 50 pounds Ability to stand 8 hours in an 8-hour workday High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred Work requires the following and use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching Exposure to cleaning chemicals and products Exposure to various food products, possibly including some that may have allergens, such as milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soy, among others
