Blue Plate is built to be a long-term, multi-unit brand, and we want cooks who want to grow with us. The Role This is a hands-on, short-order breakfast and lunch cooking role. You'll run the line during the rush — eggs cooked to order, griddle and flat-top, à la carte tickets, plated to time — set the pace for the station, and help keep the kitchen clean, stocked, and moving. As Lead Cook you'll be the most experienced cook on the line, support the Kitchen Manager, help train newer cooks, and step up during opening and closing. This is a clear path to grow into a Kitchen Manager role as we expand. What You'll Do Cook breakfast and lunch to order, working all stations (griddle, flat-top, eggs, sauté, fry, expo) Cook eggs every style to order and hold quality and timing during the rush Set the pace and standard on the line for other cooks Follow recipes and hold portion, quality, and presentation standards Help train and coach newer cooks Run opening and closing station procedures Keep stations clean, stocked, and organized; follow food-safety and sanitation standards Help with prep, par levels, and reducing waste Support the Kitchen Manager and step in when needed What You Bring (Minimum Qualifications) 2+ years of line cook experience in a high-volume kitchen Short-order / à la carte cooking experience (cooking individual tickets to order) Ability to cook eggs every style to order during a busy breakfast rush Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency under pressure Ability to work mornings, weekends, and holidays (Blue Plate will consider reasonable accommodation for sincerely held religious beliefs or qualifying disabilities that affect scheduling) Team player who can keep a calm, fast pace Preferred Qualifications Breakfast, brunch, or diner experience Experience leading or setting the pace on a line Experience training newer cooks Bilingual (English/Spanish) Benefits (for eligible employees) Paid, hands-on training (compensated at your regular rate) Health, dental, and vision insurance (eligibility requirements apply; details provided at offer) CalSavers retirement program Paid time off (accrual details provided at offer) Free meals while working Employee referral program A clear path to advance into Kitchen Manager and future leadership roles Physical Requirements / Essential Functions The following are essential functions of this position.
