Job Description
Join the Brass Bear Team Brass Bear is a small, family-run business with two locations in Santa Barbara. We're a professional, fun-loving group who genuinely enjoy working together, with a shared goal of being known for our hospitality, great food, craft drinks, and memorable events. Join our team where your skills will shine, and your contributions will be valued! As a Floor Lead at Brass Bear Uptown, you will report to the General Manager & Owners. You are responsible for overseeing service and supporting both front-of-house and back-of-house operations during your shift. You will lead the team on the floor, ensure smooth service flow, and step in where needed to maintain a high standard of hospitality. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who leads by example, stays calm under pressure, and keeps the team aligned during busy service. Throughout your shift, you may be required to step into multiple roles, including host, expo, bar, or runner, depending on where support is needed. You will act as a "jack of all trades," focusing your attention where the business needs it most to ensure a seamless guest experience. This is a supervisory position that is not part of the tip pool. Key Responsibilities Monitor guest experience and step in to resolve concerns quickly and professionally Lead and oversee lunch/dinner service, ensuring smooth and efficient operations Act as the point of contact during shifts for staff support, questions, and issue resolution Support FOH and BOH teams as needed to maintain service flow Communicate effectively with kitchen, bar, and service teams to keep operations aligned Respond to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner Ensure service standards, cleanliness, and organization are maintained throughout the shift Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setup, breakdown, and cash handling Monitor staffing levels during shifts and adjust as needed to meet service demands Ensure compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations Support training and onboarding of new team members Qualifications 2-3 years of experience in hospitality, with supervisory experience preferred Advanced experience operating standard restaurant POS system Strong understanding of restaurant operations and service flow Excellent customer service and communication skills Monitoring labor and guest experience is vital. Ability to stay organized and make decisions in a fast-paced environment Hands-on, team-first leadership style Ability to multitask and problem-solve in real time Reliable and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays Must live within a reasonable commuting distance Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, up to the duration of a scheduled shift Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 25-50 pounds (e.g., glass trays, kegs, supplies), with or without assistance Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining awareness of surroundings Ability to safely navigate crowded or confined spaces, including dining and kitchen areas Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members in a noisy environment What Makes This Role Different Supervisory role on the floor with real-time decision-making responsibility Blend of operations, team support, and guest experience Opportunity to grow into higher-level leadership roles What We Offer CA Sick Pay Retirement Account (CalSavers) Employee Discounts Flexible Schedule A supportive, team-oriented environment Opportunities for growth within the company Competitive pay + tips (where applicable) Flexible scheduling
