SELECTION PROCEDURE
This is a
PROMOTIONAL ONLY
recruitment to establish an eligibility list, fill a vacancy and hire substitutes. Substitutes work on an as-needed basis to fill in for absent employees. The eligibility list will be used to fill permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list. Promotional examinations shall be restricted to probationary and permanent employees of the District who meet the qualifications of the class. The current vacancy is full-time, 10 months per year, Monday-Friday 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM. The recruitment process will consist of an evaluation of the submitted supplemental form and an oral technical interview, which are tentatively scheduled during the weeks of June 29-July 17, 2026. (Click here for more information on the recruitment process) (Download PDF reader) Basic Function Under the direction of the Manager-Nutrition Services, plan, organize, coordinate and supervise the preparation of food items for sale or transport at an assigned central kitchen facility; assure efficient and effective production methods and operations and compliance with standards of health safety and nutrition; train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; provide one-on-one training to satellite site personnel in production, record keeping, work simplification, and other areas as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Nutrition Services Supervisor III directs the operations of a central kitchen facility which prepares and transports food to District middle and elementary schools and contact sites and provides one-on-one training for Nutrition Services staff at satellite sites. The Nutrition Services Supervisor I classification is the entry-level classification in this series and performs various routine food service activities at an assigned school site. Incumbents assist in the training and supervision of assigned personnel. The Nutrition Services Supervisor II directs the operations of a high school cafeteria and snack areas. Education & Experience Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years experience in a large food service operation, including one year in a supervisory capacity. Licenses and Other Requirements The possession of a Food Protection Manager Certification issued by an approved organization (California Health & Safety Code § 113716) must be obtained within five (5) months of employment.
