Position Purpose The purpose of the Recycling Lead is to ensure the team is up to date on daily duties on projects and issues on both sides of the Recycling Department front end and wash line. Enforce and manage team members with Peninsula Plastics Recycling, Inc.'s highest quality standards. This position will support the Recycling Supervisor in providing directions on shift duties/tasks to the Sr. Operators, operators, manual sorters, and material handlers. In the absence of the Recycling Supervisor, the Recycling Lead role is expected to provide support to the Recycling Supervisor by temporarily assuming the Supervisor's responsibilities. Essential Responsibilities Provide directions and assign daily duties to team members on both sides of the recycling department, this includes front end and wash line areas. Enforce Safety, SQF and GMP requirements per area. Ensure team members follow correct processes and SOP's during normal operations of equipment. Ensure the shift data being entered by team members or himself/herself is accurate. This includes all data that populates EOS report. Perform daily inventory counts of finished goods and byproducts as needed. Create, post and close vicinity batch tickets as needed for your shift. Manage team members to work safely and efficiently while performing PM activities. Monitor equipment performance and fill out hourly checks accurately and in a timely manner. Report issues to maintenance and broader team using processes sand tools set by leadership. Create work orders and support maintenance with troubleshooting. Provide training on procedures and processes to team members as needed. Motivate and ensure a safe work environment for everyone in and outside his team. Support Recycling Supervisor and Manager with projects and other tasks asked to improve department.
PLANT UPKEEP
Assist in daily and weekly cleanings as listed. Maintain a world-class facility in terms of cleanliness. Perform safety chain audits and checklist daily, weekly and monthly as specified. GMP
- Responsible for following food safety requirements of the facility with zero GMP violations per month SAFETY
- Maintain compliance with company and Cal/OSHA/OSHA safety policies including but not limited to:
- lockout/ tagout procedures, forklift operation, proper use of PPE, and sharps discovery and handling.
It is the responsibility of every employee, including temp workers, to immediately report to Management the discovery of contamination in any area of the production facility that constitutes a risk to product and/or personnel safety. Other duties as assigned Qualifications 3+ years of stable work experience in operations of equipment
- Required Available to work night shift 11:00 pm to 7:30 am
- Required SQF (Safe Quality Food), HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) background is a plus. Must be able to read and write in English, as well as proficiency in math. High School Diploma or GED. Effective communication skills, and ability to speak Spanish a plus. Proven abilities to troubleshoot equipment issues and maximize equipment performance.
- Required Knowledgeable with product/material quality, Identifying material losses.
- Required Hands-on approach, with a "can-do" attitude. Demonstrate safe work habits and extensive knowledge of workplace safety is required.
- Required 3+ years stable work experience in a related manufacturing setting, with 1+ years in a supervisory/leadership role.

An employee's position within the pay range will be based on several factors to specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience and skills.
