SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Bartender is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with PUBLIC's standards. This role requires strong product knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to create a welcoming and engaging bar experience while maintaining efficiency and compliance with all regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Be an ambassador for PUBLIC by meeting and exceeding PUBLIC core objectives and values. Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, professional, and engaging service. Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines. Maintain thorough knowledge of all menu offerings, including cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits. Provide recommendations and upsell beverages to enhance the guest experience. Ensure bar setup is fully stocked, organized, and ready for service. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, tools, and equipment at all times. Monitor guest consumption and adhere to responsible alcohol service standards. Process transactions accurately using POS systems and follow all cash handling procedures. Perform opening and closing duties, including inventory checks, restocking, and cleaning. Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards. Collaborate with team members and provide lateral service to support overall operations. Follow direction from supervisors and maintain positive working relationships. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of state and local alcohol laws Strong knowledge of mixology, spirits, wine, and beer. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. High attention to detail and accuracy. Professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry items up to 40 lbs. Frequent reaching, bending, and repetitive motions. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of 2 years bartending experience in a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant preferred. Valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification required. California Food Handler Card required.
