- Full-time Position Summary The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of Stout Street Foundation's food service program, ensuring residents and guests receive nutritious, safe, and well-prepared meals.
This position manages meal planning, food inventory, kitchen operations, food safety compliance, volunteer coordination, and resident engagement while supporting the Foundation's mission of helping individuals achieve recovery, self-sufficiency, and long-term success. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFood Service Operations Coordinate and oversee the preparation and service of daily meals for residents and program participants. Develop nutritious, cost-effective menus that meet dietary needs and organizational standards. Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely, professional manner. Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation standards. Kitchen and Inventory Management Maintain inventory of food, supplies, and kitchen equipment. Order food and kitchen supplies within budget guidelines. Receive, inspect, and properly store food deliveries. Minimize waste through effective inventory rotation and meal planning. Food Safety and Compliance Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations. Maintain sanitation standards throughout food preparation and dining areas. Conduct regular kitchen inspections and maintain required documentation. Train staff, residents, and volunteers on food handling and safety procedures. Staff, Resident, and Volunteer Coordination Supervise kitchen assistants, residents participating in vocational training, and volunteers. Provide coaching, guidance, and support to individuals working in the kitchen program. Create and maintain kitchen schedules to ensure adequate staffing coverage. Foster a positive, respectful, and recovery-focused environment. Program Support Support Stout Street Foundation's recovery and life-skills programming through food service operations. Encourage resident participation in kitchen duties as part of vocational and personal development goals. Collaborate with program staff to address special dietary needs and resident concerns. Assist with special events, community meals, and organizational functions as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; culinary training or related certification preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in food service, kitchen management, or institutional food preparation. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices. Current Food Safety Manager Certification (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe). Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or trainees preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals in recovery and diverse populations. Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, scheduling, and reporting. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a commercial kitchen environment, including exposure to heat, cold, and cleaning chemicals. Ability to bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
