This position involves guiding the concessions team to ensure excellent customer service, operational efficiency, and adherence to health and safety standards. The Shift Lead is responsible for delegating tasks, troubleshooting issues, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the smooth operation of during their shift.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead by example by providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a positive, team-oriented work environment. Accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and process orders through the point-of-sale system. Assist in assigning staff to specific roles based on workload and customer demand. Address customer complaints or concerns, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining guest satisfaction. Prepare and cook food items according to recipes, specifications, and menu standards. Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and stovetops, ensuring they are used safely and effectively. Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation. Cook food to the correct temperature, ensuring safety and flavor. Ensure that all orders are completed in a timely manner, especially during peak hours or events. Keep workstations clean, organized, and stocked with necessary ingredients and equipment. Follow proper cleaning and sanitation protocols, including regular cleaning of kitchen tools, surfaces, and equipment. Ensure all food is stored properly according to food safety standards and regulations. Oversee the opening and closing of concessions, ensuring that all equipment is in working order, and the area is clean and ready for service. Monitor inventory levels throughout the shift and assist with restocking or ordering as needed to prevent shortages. Maintain a clean and organized work environment by following proper sanitation and food safety protocols. Assist with cash handling procedures, ensuring registers are accurate, and there is no cash shortage or overage. Act as the first point of contact for any operational issues or emergencies that arise during the shift, addressing them quickly and effectively. Collaborate with the management team to address any staffing, equipment, or inventory challenges. Communicate any significant issues or concerns to management in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in hospitality or management is a plus.
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in food service or concessions, with some experience in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience in high-volume or fast-paced environments is preferred.
Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and direct a team of staff members. Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills. Ability to multitask, remain organized, and work efficiently under pressure. Basic math skills and experience with cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) systems. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Certifications:
Food Handlers Certification, ServSafe Certification or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy environment. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
