Job Description

Beverage Manager- JOB SUMMARY:
Supervises and coordinates the beverage service of all Club dining outlets, bars, Member and non-Member events and Club functions, as well as the Wine Shop retail store. Plans, purchases, executes and analyzes the entire beverage operation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES and other duties as may be assigned related to this position. Attends weekly F & B Meeting and any other meetings as assigned. Works closely with the Food and Beverage Manager in developing the beverage program to include Retail Wine Shop and Cocktails, Wine Lists and by the Glass program for the Dining Rooms. Holds daily lineup with Wine Shop and assigned beverage staff. Plans and prepares work schedules for all bar coverage (A la Carte dining, Club Events, Private Banquets and Wine Shop) and assigns employees to specific duties. Coordinates purchasing of beverages with Purchasing Manager. Coordinates sales and prepares or directs staff in the preparation of merchandise displays and potential advertising copy for Wine Shop. Aids Members in the selection of wines, beverages, and other items. Executes all purchasing of alcoholic beverages for the Wine Shop and Club as needed. Receives, stores and inventories all products. Ensures the proper execution of monthly inventory of Wine Shop and Bars. Coordinates consumption reports to enable proper billing of F & B functions. Ensures cleanliness of all areas of responsibility. Spearheads maintenance & repair of Wine Shop, bars and areas directly related to the beverage department. Responsible for cost controls and proper utilization of stock. Works with Food and Beverage Manager to plan all wine lists and wine pairings or promotions. Ensures proper billing of beverages in all areas and is vigilant in his efforts to improve these procedures. Institutes ongoing sales methods and techniques to increase beverage revenues and Member satisfaction. Coordinates training of bar and waitstaff in Alcohol Service as required by state and local laws. Maintains high standards in personal appearance and cleanliness. Executes any necessary disciplinary actions for beverage employees with the supervision of the Assistant Food and Beverage Director. Adheres to departmental and company safety standards. Supervises, motivates, trains and evaluates all beverage employees. Prints analysis of actual and potential beverage sales based on costs monthly. Analyzes information concerning Wine Shop and Bar operations such as daily sales, Member/guest attendance, and labor costs to prepare budgets and to maintain cost control of Wine Shop and Bar operations. Responsible for keeping current with all trends in the beverage area.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from a college or a technical school and a minimum of three years prior experience in a similar position which incorporates customer relations skills and a general knowledge of wine; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
