Southern Pines is seeking an experienced Dining Services Director / Executive Chef to lead our culinary program in a senior living community. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a chef who understands that dining is more than food — it is comfort, dignity, and quality of life for our residents. We are looking for a culinary leader with assisted living, healthcare, or senior dining experience who can manage kitchen operations, develop staff, control costs, and create an exceptional dining experience for residents and families. This leader is responsible for quality standards, resident satisfaction, food safety compliance, team development, budgeting, and inventory management. You will create an environment where dining becomes a highlight of each resident's day while maintaining operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Culinary & Dining Experience Plan, prepare, and oversee nutritious, appealing meals for senior residents Ensure therapeutic diets and special dietary needs are met Maintain high food quality and presentation standards Promote hospitality and service excellence in the dining room Leadership & Team Development Hire, train, schedule, and coach kitchen and dining staff Maintain appropriate staffing levels and productivity standards Foster a positive, team-focused culture Operations & Compliance Manage food cost, purchasing, inventory, and budgeting Maintain sanitation and safety standards (state and federal regulations) Oversee receiving, storage, and portion control procedures Ensure kitchen equipment and facilities are maintained Resident & Community Engagement Interact with residents and families to gather feedback Support tours and marketing events when needed Reinforce the importance of dining to overall resident satisfaction and occupancy Qualifications Required Culinary leadership experience (Executive Chef, Kitchen Manager, or Dining Director) Experience in senior living, healthcare, or high-volume hospitality dining Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance Experience managing staff schedules and kitchen operations Budgeting, inventory, and cost control experience Preferred ServSafe Certification Therapeutic diet or healthcare dining experience Passion for serving older adults and hospitality-driven service What Our Team Says "It truly feels like a family here."
