Central Steel & Wire offers a dynamic, quality-focused, environment, ideal for advancing your career and making your mark in the metals industry. As a Shift Area Lead with Central Steel & Wire, you will oversee the warehouse team and assist the second shift Supervisor with production and department goals. This position is second shift. The hours for this posiiton are Monday - Friday from 3pm to 11:30pm or 5pm to 1:30am. Roles and Responsibilities The ideal candidate will operate motorized material handling equipment such as an overhead crane, side loader, and forklift It is also a requirement that when short-handed or during periods of high demand, Leadership is responsible for filling in where needed Responsible for training staff to ensure they are fully trained for the tasks they are performing. Coaches, mentors, counsels, and develops Effectively leads pre-shift safety and production huddles with the team Ensure corrective actions are carried out to eliminate workplace hazards Reacts to machinery breakdowns by directing repairs when possible, arranging for outside repairs or reassignment of personnel as needed Assume short-term responsibility for management absences as requested All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice Requirements Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills 3-5 years of experience Experience operating equipment and ability to recognize materials in the service center Possesses leadership abilities and has a desire to advance and solid interpersonal communication skills required Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment Flexible, dependable, and solutions-oriented The successful candidate is expected to develop proficiency in SAP as part of their role. Prior experience is not required, but a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and become proficient in SAP is essential. Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
Salary:
$28.68 - $29.62 per hour. A starting rate higher than $28.68 per hour is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
