Job Description

The Charlton Senior Center is looking for a Kitchen coordinator to join their team. The Kitchen coordinator would help prepare and serve meals to the senior population. The position is 19 hours per week. Hours would between 8:30am - 1:30pm Monday - Thursday.
Duties include:
Prepares and serves meals daily for individuals at the Senior Center. Meals are generally provided by an outside vendor. Sets up dining area, cleans kitchen and dining area, wash dishes, tables, sweep floors and general area to include emptying trash. Ensures that meals are prepared in compliance with recognized food safety standards and Board of Health guidelines. Works closely with volunteers who help in the kitchen and ensures they are using proper protocols for sanitation. Ensures that meals are prepared in adherence to recognized food safety standards and Board of Health guidelines. Conducts daily and weekly cleanup schedule of food preparation areas as well as other areas utilized. Assists with taking inventory of supplies, places orders and stores food supplies in appropriate manner. Inventories supplies, places orders and stores food supplies in appropriate manner. Prepares and maintains daily record of those in attendance for meals. Orders and picks up cakes and supplies at approved stores, as needed.
Job Environment :
Most work is performed in a traditional kitchen setting where there is exposure to potential hazards and discomforts found in a kitchen environment. Operates various kinds of kitchen equipment, and general office equipment such as a computer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine, and telephone. Has frequent contact with volunteers, seniors, vendors, and other staff members.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; One to two years of experience working with seniors in a nutritional or food service program required; experience in a high-volume institutional food preparation desirable; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have Serve Safe Certification or be certifiable.
Starting Hiring Range:
$19.89 - $21.96 depending on qualifications and experience.
Full Salary Range :
$19.89/hr - $24.85/hr through step progression.
