Kitchen Supervisor/ Manager The Black Dog Vineyard Haven, MA 02568 Full-time/Seasonal opportunity As a Kitchen Supervisor/Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the back of house activities and ensuring they run smoothly. Kitchen Manager Qualifications Culinary Degree with minimum 5 years' experience in culinary management preferred Actively support a culture of safety which includes food safety, team member safety and customer safety Strong verbal and written communication skills with guests and employees at all levels Ability to multi-task and manage smooth operational flow with front and back of the house Working knowledge of all equipment, maintenance, and operation Possess SERV Safe Food Manager and MA Allergen Awareness Certification Must manage time effectively with minimum supervision Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and management Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Actively support a culture of safety which includes food safety, team member safety and customer safety Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Availability to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends Must be capable of lifting at least 50 lbs., and ability to push 150 to 250 lbs. on a rolling dolly Requires the physical ability to stand for long periods of time, walk frequently, bend, squat or reach Why You Should Apply Competitive salary and generous employee discounts Opportunity to work in an idyllic seaside location Kitchen Manager Job Responsibilities Supervise and train kitchen staff in all food preparation and presentation from back kitchen to line Create weekly schedule for kitchen staff and special events Coordinate planning, budgeting, and purchasing for main kitchen food operations with Executive Chef Provide input and suggestion for menu revisions Follow and ensure team member compliance with all health, safety, food handling and hygiene standards Oversee use of equipment and kitchen appliances, including preventative maintenance to ensure equipment runs smoothly; facilitate repair service as necessary Ability to organize raw and prepped product and check in orders properly Ability to fill out prep lists and inventory sheets with speed and accuracy Ability to execute recipes properly and adjust taste Responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety and sanitation standards in accordance with policies and the Department of Health Must comply with all sanitation, food, and safety regulations About The Black Dog Heights Cafe Located across from Falmouth Harbor, our Heights Cafe brings your favorite Black Dog specialties, along with some new culinary creations, from our Martha's Vineyard home to the mainland. Our beautiful counter-service cafe offers delicious and unique breakfast bowls, egg sandwiches, lunch specialties, pastries, and more! Whether you're headed to the ferry or simply enjoying scenic Falmouth Heights, our newest Cafe is sure to become your favorite stop! About The Black Dog Tavern It all started with a stale donut. Captain Robert Douglas' dissatisfaction with a bitter cup of coffee and a dry, packaged, store-bought donut, turned into a vision for year-round dining that would look just right on the beach at the head of Vineyard Haven Harbor, a place where locals and visitors could meet and eat. When the building was completed, the Captain gave his restaurant the name, The Black Dog Tavern , in honor of his faithful canine companion Black Dog. Not much has changed from those early days. The view of Vineyard Haven Harbor is still as lovely as ever and the Tavern chefs continue to share their culinary creations with our customers. We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including daily specials, year-round, and always craft our food with the finest ingredients. About The Black Dog Bakery Café Newly renovated, offers a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. We offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a full beer and wine menu.
