Kennel Shift Lead

Amethyst Pet Hotel is a new Luxury Boarding facility for dogs and cats in Frederick, Maryland. It is owned by a local Veterinarian who wanted to create a better way for dogs and cats to be away from home. We are looking for individuals who are dedicated to excellent pet care and support, ready for a physically active job and looking to grow and learn in a supportive respectful environment. We welcome previous Veterinary Technicians or Assistants who need a break from the stress of the veterinary environment and not just those with previous boarding experience. You'll enjoy the dog and cat care without the chaos and pressure. All employees must be Fear Free Certified for Boarding and Grooming. We provide the training and it must be completed to remain employed. Understanding dog and cat behavior is key to providing excellent care and safety. We are on a 29 acre farm with lots of space. It comes with lots walking and moving and we have a second floor as well. You must be able to physically be active and on your feet and using some stairs throughout your shift. You will be in excellent shape working here! You must be able to dress for the weather as dogs will be going outside in nearly all conditions for exercise and potty breaks. In extreme weather conditions we have an indoor area to walk them if needed. We are staffed from 6am to 9pm 7 days a week. Client service hours are shorter. Shifts can be a full 15 hour shift, early or late shifts to provide some flexibility in your schedule or be an after school or second job. Weekend and Holiday shifts are required. Holiday shifts will have significant bonuses along with hourly pay. Responsibilities Provide daily care for our dog and cat guests

• food, water, activity Monitor other team members present and provide leadership support where needed Oversee overall operations and ensure everything is completed properly and effectively Administer and monitor administration of medications or those dog and cat guests who need other medical support Maintain clean and sanitary environment
• cleaning rooms, bedding, and common areas regularly, picking up after dogs at all times Handle animals gently and confidently
• Fear Free Certification provided upon employment and required to maintain employment Monitor dog and cat guests' health and behavior closely
• notifying Manager or Owner of any concerns Communicate with pet owners via daily report cards, texts and calls Utilize Kennel Software appropriately Qualifications A good attitude and interest in learning and working as a team Previous Kennel experience or Veterinary Technician/Assistant experience for at least 1 year Customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members Ability to walk dogs outdoors on our 29 acre property and go up and down stairs repeatedly through the day Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to move supplies or assist with animals safely Ability to work weekends and some Holidays Benefits Two weeks Paid Time Off per year Retirement plan via a SIMPLE plan Monthly Health Reimbursement of $300 per month via a QESHRA plan (not full health insurance) Discounted services for yearly full and part time employees Fear Free Boarding and Grooming Certification Exercise and time outside with dogs and playtime indoors with cats A positive work culture Please send your resume and a cover letter about why you are interested in this position.
