Job Description

Chesapeake Church is seeking an experienced professional with a heart for serving the community, to provide strategic leadership and oversight of daily and general operations of the Chesapeake Cares Food Pantry. This is a full-time, on-site role that ensures effective food distribution, volunteer coordination, financial stewardship, community partnerships, compliance with Maryland Food Bank standards, and alignment with the mission of Chesapeake Church. Key Responsibilities I. Daily Pantry Operations Manage day-to-day pantry operations, including menu planning, inventory management, volunteer coordination, and client communications. Ensure compliance with food distribution standards and inventory control practices. II. General Operations & Administration Maintain required reports, documentation, and records. Serve as the primary liaison with the Maryland Food Bank and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. Manage the pantry budget, purchasing, and grant reporting. III. Volunteer & Community Engagement Recruit, coordinate, and recognize volunteers. Maintain relationships with community partners, retail recovery organizations, and donors. Management of pantry-related communications, outreach, and social media efforts. IV. Facilities & Food Safety Oversee food safety procedures, temperature monitoring, and maintenance of refrigeration equipment. V. Special Events & Outreach Coordinate major pantry initiatives, including Food Drives and Holiday Meal distributions. Coordinate donor acknowledgments, appreciation efforts, and year-end recognition. Preferred Qualifications Strong organizational and administrative leadership skills. Experience in nonprofit management, food distribution, or community outreach preferred. Financial management and budgeting experience. Ability to lead volunteers and build community partnerships. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency using database systems and reporting platforms. Commitment to the mission and values of Chesapeake Cares Food Pantry and Chesapeake Church.
