ROLE DESCRIPTION
The BTS Bioenergy Dayshift Tipping Floor Supervisor is responsible for full operational oversight during their assigned shift at our Maryland Bioenergy Center facility. This on-site position reports to the Plant Manager and Assistant Plant Manager over Tipping Floor in Jessup, Maryland. This position is for Frontend Daytime Shift. Sunday to Wednesday week one and Sunday to Tuesday week 2. Working hours are 5am-5pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES OPERATIONS
Oversee the operation of the Tipping Floor, logistics of inbound feedstock, biological processes of the pretanks and make recommendations to AD/WWT operational staff for upcoming process changes. Maintain adequate inventory of consumables such as fuel, supplies, chemicals, and tools. Perform regular checks of relevant plant equipment and determine needs to adjust, repair, and carry out basic service of equipment. Ensure the plant is operating within its parameters as related to health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Monitor the efficient intake and record keeping of organic feedstock materials by staff. Direct daily activities related to the safe and efficient operation of the facility. Cross train with wastewater staff to have a working knowledge of Wastewater, Centrifuge and gas skid operations. Respond to 24/7 alarm callouts if necessary during on call schedule.
SUPERVISOR
Manage a team of Tipping Floor Technicians, Laborers, and/or Attendants, offering relevant technical input. Schedule, supervise, and direct the work of team members; evaluate performance and make recommendations including work allocation, training, and problem resolution. Supervise and develop shift team member's knowledge, skill progression, and productivity Motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance Promote a culture of collaboration and trust to maximize employee productivity, increase retention, and minimize turnover Collaborate with Engineering, Wastewater, Maintenance, and Management teams on a variety of projects to achieve common goal Complete supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Assistant Plant Management over the Tipping Floor, collaborate with Human Resource department to complete any new hire, performance management, talent development or employee relation matters
ADMINISTRATION
Contribute to documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments and Method Statements, training materials, etc. Contribute to daily (& weekly as needed) reports on tasks completed/observations/items requiring attention. Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create and track work requests
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE A
willingness to gain knowledge and practical experience in the operation of AD facilities is essential to provide oversight and training of others. Knowledge and/or experience in the safe operation of rolling equipment such as forklifts, front end loaders, skid steers, cranes, and manlifts. Familiarity with waste receiving operations, sorting and handling Familiarity with instrumentation, controls, and SCADA systems Familiarity with pumps, compressors, agitators, de-packagers, conveyors, separators, etc. Knowledge of OSHA regulations such as Confined Space, Hot Work Permits, Working at Height, First Aid, LOTO, etc. is required. Successful completion of this occupational training shall be required. Must facilitate good working relationships with superiors, peers, and direct reports. Maintain a residence within a commutable distance of the facility to respond to emergencies within 1 hour. Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing Competent with technology and the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
