Job Description

North Woods Village of Kalamazoo, Southwest Michigan's premier dedicated Memory Care Assisted Living community, is seeking an Executive Chef/Dining Services Director, to join its leadership team. At North Woods Village, having a passion for serving those with Alzheimer's Disease and dementia is the most important quality for our team and helps distinguish our Senior Living Community from others and ensures the best living experience for our residents and their families. The Executive Chef/Dining Services Director is responsible for the management of the entire Dining Services operation including managing all food service functions within the community, providing direction and coordination of all employees, developing and adhering to capital and operating budgets. The Executive Chef maintains high quality standards in regards to food production and preparation, sanitation and safety, and expediency of food lines. Requires two to four years' experience in foodservice operations with an emphasis on dining experience and culinary expertise. The Executive Chef/Dining Services Director responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Creates recipes and menu cycles that offer choice, address requests from residents and meet licensing guidelines for nutrition and portion size. Prepares appropriate special diets to meet residents' needs. Adjust menus to reflect needs and interests of residents as well as seasonal opportunities. Ensures the culinary services department meets all licensing standards and requirements. Trains staff to function within appropriate guidelines and to adhere to standards and licensing requirements at all times. Prepares food for the following day's menu. Ensures food and kitchen are maintained in accordance with local, state and county health department policies. Provide overall culinary leadership and training, supervise all culinary staff including Cooks and Dishwashers. Plan, direct, prepare and execute all culinary services for all on-site special events. Forecast and develop the budget for the culinary operations and and adheres to approved budgets. Requirements Current Sanitation Certificate. At least 2 years in food service, 4-5 years as an executive Chef in a health care setting is preferred.
