Job Description
Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our food service team as a Second Cook. This part-time position is located district-wide and plays a vital role in preparing and serving nutritious meals to our community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate culinary skills, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
Assist the Head Cook in preparing and cooking a variety of meals according to established recipes and nutritional guidelines.
Ensure that all food is prepared in a safe and sanitary manner, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Help with the setup and breakdown of food service areas, including cleaning and sanitizing workstations and equipment.
Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary to meet standards.
Assist in inventory management, including receiving, storing, and labeling food products.
Support the Head Cook in menu planning and meal preparation schedules.
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service during meal periods.
Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cook or Food Service Manager. Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in food service or culinary roles is a plus.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
Ability to receive Certified Food Protection Manager License through the State of MN within 60 days of hire.
Must pass a background check and meet any local health and safety regulations.
