Overview and Purpose:
The café lead's role is to offer excellent service to our customers, co-working partners, and members. The role entails opening and closing the café, preparing and serving sandwiches, snacks, and beverages, and maintaining a sanitary environment in the café space, storage, and floor. Queermunity is a unique café, event venue, and community gathering place that offers a safe and affirming environment for its customers and employees, meaning this role requires a large amount of empathy, compassion, and communication from staff. We are looking for people who care deeply about food, coffee, and LGBTQIA2+ issues and people. We are looking for staff members with prior café/sandwich bar experience. What do you need to be successful?
  • Prior customer service experience (1-5 years)
  • Good attention to detail and work ethic
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Ability to keep a positive attitude during busy periods
  • Self-motivated
  • Shared values of: Inclusion, Regeneration (social, economic, financial), Safety (physical and psychological), Transparency, and Honesty
  • Strong communication skills
  • Passionate about LGBTQIA+ rights and issues
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for 5-hour periods at a time Preferred, but not required, qualities:
  • Passion for marketing and creative menu collaboration
  • Line cook/restaurant back-of-house experience
Responsibilities:
1. Opening and closing the café. Setting up tables, chairs, and equipment. 2. Serving both food and beverages. 3. Using the Point Of Sale effectively to process transactions. 4. Washing dishes. 5. Light and deep cleaning of the dining area, kitchen, restrooms, and equipment. 6. Handling customer feedback or complaints professionally. 7. Ability to relay information to the AM or Director of F&B as necessary. 8. Maintain knowledge and use of standard operating procedures. 9. Commitment to safety and following food handling and other procedures to ensure community security. 10. Training staff on regular duties. 11. Ensuring staff are doing their daily tasks and fulfilling basic duties. 12. Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed each week. 13.
