  • Full-time Position Summary The Taproom Manager plays a vital leadership role at Appalachian Mountain Brewery Old Fort Outpost and Modern Alchemist (sister brand and distillery), overseeing all aspects of daily taproom and restaurant operations.
Reporting to the Pubs Director, this position is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience through strong floor leadership, operational excellence, and team development. The Taproom Manager leads by example, working shoulder-to-shoulder with staff while also managing the behind-the-scenes details that keep the business running smoothly—scheduling, ordering, compliance, team communication, private events, and more. A successful TM at AMB is a strong communicator, passionate about craft beer and food, and thrives in a fast-paced, community-oriented environment. Lead, train, and coach the front-of-house and back-of-house teams to deliver exceptional hospitality and uphold AMB values. Conduct regular team meetings and service trainings to align on standards, product knowledge, and upcoming events. Actively participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance management in coordination with the Director of Hospitality. Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment rooted in teamwork and accountability. Act as the lead operator during service, setting the tone for hospitality, pace, and professionalism on the floor. Ensure consistent service standards, food and beverage quality, cleanliness, and safety protocols are met or exceeded. Maintain a strong presence during peak hours to support staff, engage with guests, and solve issues in real-time. Own and manage all team schedules to optimize labor efficiency while supporting guest needs and team balance. Lead weekly product ordering for beer, wine, liquor, non-alcoholic beverages, office supplies, and event-specific needs. Maintain accurate inventory levels and monitor COGS alongside the Pubs Director Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure that beer, cocktail, and food menus are current, visually aligned with the brand, and updated across platforms. Work closely with the kitchen leadership and bar teams on menu rollouts, specials, and seasonal changes. Collaborate with the event team and FOH leads to successfully execute private parties, brewery activations, and community events. Ensure compliance with health department, ABC, and company policies; prepare for inspections and audits. Handle daily and weekly administrative tasks, including tip reporting, cash handling, petty cash management, and performance documentation. Monitor equipment, cleanliness, and facility needs; coordinate with vendors and maintenance when repairs are needed. Track daily sales, labor performance, and prime costs; identify and implement improvement strategies where needed. Support the Pubs Director in achieving budget goals and driving top-line growth through service and programming.
