Job Description

Job Purpose:
The Frozen Manager at Hugo's Family Marketplace is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the frozen foods department. This role ensures that all products are stored, handled, and displayed according to safety and quality standards, while maintaining department cleanliness and driving sales. The manager will lead a team to provide excellent customer service and uphold safety, sanitation, and loss-prevention policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise, train, and schedule department staff to ensure efficient operations. Manage inventory, stock levels, and product rotation using the FIFO method. Ensure all products are stored, handled, and displayed according to safety and quality standards. Maintain department cleanliness and organization. Drive department sales through effective merchandising and customer engagement. Assist customers with inquiries and provide excellent service. Implement and monitor safety, sanitation, and loss-prevention policies. Collaborate with other departments to achieve overall store goals. Utilize POS systems and manage basic budgeting and ordering tasks.

Required Education:
High school diploma or
GED Preferred Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, retail management, or food service Optional /
Helpful:
Food safety or handling certifications
Required Experience:
Experience in daily operations management Supervisory experience in training and scheduling staff Experience with inventory management, stock levels, and rotation (FIFO) Experience ensuring products are stored, handled, and displayed according to safety and quality standards Experience in maintaining cleanliness and department sales Experience in customer assistance and merchandising Familiarity with safety, sanitation, and loss-prevention policies
Preferred Experience:
2-3 years of experience in retail or grocery, preferably in frozen foods or perishables 1-2 years of supervisory or team lead experience Experience managing inventory, schedules, and department operations Familiarity with POS systems and basic budgeting/ordering
Required Skills and Abilities:
Leadership skills Customer service and problem-solving abilities Proficiency in frozen food handling and storage Skills in inventory management and rotation Attention to detail and quality control Time management and organizational skills Physical stamina for lifting, standing, and working in cold environments Effective communication skills with staff and customers
