Saranac Central School District The Saranac Central School District is accepting applications for a School Food Service Director I. This position provides district-wide leadership and operational management for school nutrition and cafeteria services. The Director will be responsible for developing menus that meet nutrition standards, overseeing meal preparation and service, administering purchasing and inventory systems, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations governing school meals. Key Duties Direct daily food service operations across district facilities, ensuring efficiency and high standards of food quality and presentation. Create menus that adhere to nutritional guidelines and accommodate special dietary needs. Supervise food service staff, provide professional development, and create staffing schedules. Prepare and manage the food service budget, control costs, and pursue grant or reimbursement opportunities. Maintain health and sanitation standards, coordinate inspections, and establish safety protocols. Preferred Qualifications Applicants should demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and experience in institutional or school food service management. Knowledge of USDA programs (National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program), food safety certification (ServSafe or equivalent), and experience with electronic meal accounting systems are preferred.
