Catering Captain

Coordinates catering operations to ensure timely setup, service, and breakdown of events. Supervises and directs staff, prepares and serves food, and may transport food and beverages to catered functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and schedule full-time, part-time, and student staff; assist with hiring, training, evaluation, and discipline. Oversee daily operations in absence of management, including food prep, service, and administrative duties. Ensure high-quality service, customer satisfaction, and prompt, courteous interactions; resolve issues and support BGSU Dining standards. Coordinate event details, setup, and staffing based on catering orders; communicate changes and manage workload. Maintain food safety (HACCP), sanitation, and compliance with all university policies and cash-handling procedures. Monitor inventory, receive and secure supplies, and maintain accurate records. Enforce safety, security, and operational procedures; safeguard facilities and storage areas. Demonstrate knowledge of menus, equipment, and service operations.

Requirements/Conditions:

Ability to obtain required food handler/alcohol service permits and ServSafe® certification. Flexible schedule (early/late shifts, weekends); prolonged standing required. Strong leadership, organization, and customer service skills.
