Our Market:
Do you love seafood and enjoy sharing cooking tips with others? As our Seafood Lead , you will be the creative heart of our Seafood Department, reporting directly to the Deli Manager. You will bring our fresh and frozen seafood cases to life, craft delicious scratch-made items, and lead a welcoming environment where every customer leaves inspired for their next meal.
What You'll Do Day-to-Day:
Inspire Foodies:
Provide exceptional customer service and mentor the Deli and Seafood team to do the same. Get Creative in the
Kitchen:
Develop innovative, seafood-focused recipes for our Deli case, Seafood Café, and soups.
Craft Signature Items:
Handcraft local favorites like salmon patties, chili lime shrimp, crab cakes, and cod cakes using our trusted in-store recipes. Curate the
Best Catch:
Work closely with trusted vendors to order high-quality seafood, ensuring a beautifully stocked and fresh department. Manage the
Business:
Partner with the Deli Manager to manage inventory, track department sales, optimize costs, and lead quarterly inventory updates.
Keep Things Sparkling:
Maintain a clean, organized department, ensuring proper product rotation and strict safety and sanitation standards.
Celebrate Food:
Shine during special store events and holidays, leading exciting features like our Seafood Roadshows and the Holiday Food and Wine Show.
Stay Connected:
Maintain friendly, timely communication with vendors, customers, and co-workers through email, phone, and in-person chats.
Who You Are:
You have a genuine passion for cooking, prepping, and talking about seafood . You are a natural problem-solver who genuinely enjoys helping customers. You are organized, attentive to detail, and take pride in a clean, safe workspace. You are excited to step in and help with expanded deli production duties as needed to support the wider team.
Requirements:
Skills & Abilities:
Management experience in a seafood, deli, restaurant, or grocery setting Seafood and/or cooking experience and general knowledge Knowledge of seafood and other specialty deli foods, preferred Moderate computer skills, including email, Excel, Word, and online ordering systems Great multitasking, organizational, communication, and customer service skills Comfortable working with the public and greeting, speaking with, and assisting customers Attention to detail, ensuring duties are completed correctly and on time Leadership, sales, and merchandising skills Must be available to work a variety of shifts and/or days of the week consistent with the demands of the retail environment which includes weekends, evenings and other high activity periods
Education:
High School Diploma/GED ServSafe/Food safety certification, or willingness to obtain Culinary education (classes, certification, or degree), preferred
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to frequently lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds Prolonged periods of standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, and reaching Occasional instances of pushing, pulling, and squatting
