Job Description
The Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa County is seeking an organized, energetic, and dependable Kitchen Coordinator to lead our Summer Food Service Program. This role is essential in ensuring Club members receive nutritious meals each day in a safe, clean, and positive environment. The Club's Summer Program runs June 8th to July 31st. You must be available for Summer Staff Training the last week of May and first week of June. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced setting, have experience in food service, and want to make a direct impact in the lives of local youth—this is the perfect summer opportunity. Key Responsibilities Food Service Operations Oversee daily meal service, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks Ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule Menu Planning & Meal Preparation Plan and prepare meals following nutrition guidelines Collaborate with staff to create healthy, kid-friendly menus Inventory & Ordering Track inventory and maintain adequate food and supply levels Place orders as needed Kitchen Maintenance & Safety Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and dining area Ensure proper use and care of kitchen equipment Staff Supervision Supervise kitchen staff and volunteers Delegate tasks to ensure efficient daily operations Compliance & Quality Control Follow all food safety and sanitation standards Monitor food quality, portions, and presentation Communication & Reporting Communicate with leadership regarding kitchen needs and operations Assist with basic budgeting and record-keeping Qualifications Experience Previous experience in food service, kitchen operations, or a related role preferred Skills Strong organization and time management Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Leadership and communication skills Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices Education High school diploma or equivalent required Culinary or food service certifications are a plus Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 25 lbs Other Requirements Must be available for the full summer schedule Ability to complete required health/safety training Why Work With Us?
