Director of Operations- Systems and Training FLSA:
Exempt SUMARY:
In this independent contributor role, you will travel to restaurant locations within the U.S. to work with and coach new Kitchen Managers to help them achieve all kitchen annual operating goals and be able to deliver consistently high-quality food to our guests. Kitchen Systems Trainers will be responsible for ensuring that our new and existing KMs have access to all of the appropriate training and learning materials and that all training checklists and objectives have been met to ensure 100% execution of all systems. Kitchen Systems Coaches will also be back-up to cover kitchens as necessary to ensure the ongoing delivery of smooth operations to avoid guest disruptions. As needed, Kitchen Systems Coach may also be scheduled to participate in special events such as caterings, large events such as Comicon, and new unit openings, and assist with equipment installations and remodels in partnership with the Facilities team. Conducts audits of Kitchen Systems in partnership with the District Managers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Kitchen Manager Training and Development:
Development and training of new and existing Kitchen Managers using the KM Training Manual, Operations Manual, Back to Basics, Kitchen Newsletters and other materials. Ensure that appropriate follow-up plans are in place to help our KMs be successful in their roles. Assist in the development of new Senior Kitchen Managers. Helps to identify up and coming kitchen talent for leadership roles in Lead, Supervisory and AKM roles as well as all key hourly kitchen roles to help ensure that the organization has bench talent at all levels.
Operational Excellence:
Role models on No Compromise on Food Quality. We never lose sight of the guest experience. Helps ensure that our kitchens are able to execute on all aspects of kitchen operations. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and County requirements for all company policies, procedures, and operational standards at all locations. Helps the Kitchen Managers and DMs with plans to rectify any health department report deficiencies. Assists with unit openings with training and operations.
Financial Management:
Monitor financial performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement cost-saving measures. Helps the Kitchen Managers identify gaps and create plans in partnership with the District Manager over the unit. Responsible for productive wage and food cost results for all restaurants they are responsible for
Team Leadership and Development:
Provide strong leadership and mentorship to Kitchen Managers. Helps the DM and GM to build a deep bench of leaders ready to take on more responsibility. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization including between back and front of house.
Quality Assurance:
Uphold the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation in accordance with industry regulations and company policies. Work with the Kitchen Managers and District Managers on the quality assurance programs. Partners with Kitchen Managers to ensure we are in good standing with local health departments.
Vendor and Supplier Partnership:
Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure that they are living up to our contracts and agreements with pricing and quality of products and services. Help the GMs and KMs troubleshoot with vendor issues. Monitor vendor performance and maintain positive relationships to support operational needs and report deficiencies to Director of Kitchen Systems.
Qualifications:
5 years of Kitchen Operations experience required, or 7 years in Restaurant Operations. Associate's Degree or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality/Business preferred. Ability to travel locally and nationally approximately 75%, or as needed. Valid driver's license and vehicle ownership preferred. Self-starter, task/deadline driven, and well-organized with keen attention to detail. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute projects, including a sense of urgency in addressing issues and able to change direction as needed. Professional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to diplomatically work through problem-resolution. Ability to work effectively independently and in team settings, including ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external customers. Intermediate level experience in Word, Excel, Outlook and using the Internet and Applications.

Ability to stand, walk, and move around the work environment for extended periods during shifts.

Use hands and arms to handle, reach, and manipulate objects, including operating kitchen equipment and office devices.
Visual & Auditory Abilities:
Sufficient vision and hearing to safely perform duties, read labels, and communicate effectively with staff and guests.
Environmental Tolerance:
Ability to work in varying temperatures, including hot kitchen environments and cold storage areas, and to be exposed to food, cleaning chemicals, and other routine workplace materials.
Other Requirements:
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and move quickly in emergency situations.
