Monday-Friday Summary:
The Area Supervisor & Trainer oversees operations of multiple school nutrition sites (3-4 schools) while also serving as a trainer for all school nutrition staff. This individual ensures compliance with federal, state, and district policies and procedures, maintains high-quality meal service, and fosters professional development among staff. Responsibilities include supervising kitchen staff, conducting training for new hires, tracking professional development, assisting with training events, and supporting the Coordinator in program operations and compliance.
Essential Functions:
Program Supervision & Operations Manage daily operations of assigned schools, including meal service, federal and state program compliance, and staffing. Supervise and evaluate school nutrition staff at assigned schools. Review and approve payroll for assigned staff. Conduct food safety audits, compliance reviews, and implement corrective actions. Assist in planning and maintaining kitchen and storage facilities. Oversee ordering, inventory, and storage of food, dry goods, supplies, and equipment; monitor proper inventory levels. Attend Area Supervisor and Team Leader meetings and assist with department initiatives and promotional activities. Training & Professional Development Train all new hires, including Team Leaders and SNS Assistants, in departmental procedures, equipment use, food safety, and service standards. Track all new hire probation periods, evaluations and check-ins. Conduct on ramp training for all new hires. Assist in interviewing and hiring new school nutrition employees. Track and maintain records of all staff professional development and certifications in PrimeroEdge Teamwork module. Assist in organizing and implementing annual and ongoing training events for all school nutrition staff. Serve as a resource for staff, providing guidance, coaching, and support to improve skills and performance. Operational Support & Special Duties Act as liaison between the Coordinator, school administrators, and kitchen employees. Support Team Leaders by filling in as needed at assigned schools. Assist in checking deliveries, inventory, and storage management using FIFO and other proper procedures. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in compliance with health department standards. Support summer feeding programs, catering, and other special events as assigned. Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Coordinator. Education & Experience At least five years of supervisory experience in school nutrition or food service operations. Experience in training, warehouse, or inventory management preferred. Experience transporting food safely following sanitation guidelines preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Valid PA Driver's License; personal vehicle required for travel between schools. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Point of Sale systems. Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff effectively. Knowledge of large and small food service equipment, food service terminology, and portioning techniques. Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills; demonstrates respect and equity in interactions with staff and students. Ability to follow directions, work independently, and support a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additional Details
