DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Take ownership of your area's performance including safety, quality, and productivity, holding team members accountable to standards. This includes weekly presentations to the management team regarding area performance. 2. Use data to identify trends and predict maintenance needs before they happen. 3. Identify areas for improvement and lead improvement events to: Increase productivity by implementing improved goals, guidelines, and procedures Minimize unsafe conditions and accidents Minimizing customer rejections and delays Perform line setup and quality validations. Lead and/or participate in 8D and 5 Why meetings Identify productivity projects to improve uptime and throughput per man hour worked. Increase first run capability Hold operator meetings to establish plans for continuous improvement Focus on employee involvement and building a better working environment overall Assist in the training of new operators in all aspects of operation such as safety, quality and productivity Monitoring attendance, vacation and sick time, taking disciplinary actions when necessary 4. Ensure the following of all safety requirements of the equipment (J.S.A.) and O.S.H.A standards 5. Collaborate with the Scheduling department on productions this includes organizing the schedule for efficiency. 6. Collaborate with the Maintenance department to schedule repairs. 7. Maintain monthly/daily reports 8. Identify capital improvement projects 9. Aid in rolling out 5S and sustaining gains in the building 10. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of and ability to comply with safety rules and requirements Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality standards Strong mathematics skills Critical thinking skills Effective communication and organizational skills
Computer Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Ability to read and understand material tags and production instructions Mill experience preferred Reasonable accommodations may be made to those who are able to perform the essential duties of the job.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree is preferred. Formal education may be substituted with experience and training of 3-5 years. Experience in Lean Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma Problem Solving is desired.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a safety sensitive position. This work is performed in both office and manufacturing settings. The expectation is that 75% of the time is spent on the plant floor. Work performed in the office includes minimal to moderate noise due to computers, printers, and people. Work performed in the manufacturing setting includes moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment. The temperature of the facility will vary based on outside weather conditions and the use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance may be required as deemed necessary by management.
