Job Description

Position Summary The Dairy Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dairy department, ensuring product freshness, proper merchandising, and inventory control. This role supports the Grocery leadership team by maintaining strong execution standards, minimizing shrink, and delivering an excellent shopping experience through well-stocked and visually appealing displays. Key Responsibilities Department Operations & Execution Oversee daily dairy operations including stocking, rotation, merchandising, and cooler organization Ensure all dairy products meet company standards for freshness, quality, and presentation Maintain proper rotation (FIFO), dating, and temperature control for all perishable items Execute planograms, displays, and promotional sets Ensure shelves and cases remain fully stocked and properly faced throughout the day Leadership & Team Support Supervise, train, and coach dairy clerks and stockers Provide direction during shifts to maintain productivity and execution standards Support scheduling and labor planning based on delivery volume and business needs Promote a safe, efficient, and team-focused work environment Inventory & Replenishment Manage ordering and replenishment to maintain in-stock conditions Receive deliveries and ensure accurate inventory processing Monitor and control shrink through proper rotation, handling, and ordering practices Partner with vendors and Grocery leadership on product flow and inventory levels Food Safety & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and temperature control standards Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and audit requirements Monitor cleanliness of coolers, shelves, and backroom storage areas Customer Service Ensure a clean, organized, and easy-to-shop dairy department Assist customers with locating products and answering questions Support resolution of customer concerns in a timely and professional manner Qualifications Previous grocery, dairy, or perishable department experience preferred Leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strong understanding of inventory control, stocking, and merchandising practices Knowledge of food safety and temperature control standards Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment Flexible availability including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs Repetitive stocking and product handling tasks Ability to work in refrigerated environments for extended periods
