Job Description

Job Summary The Environmental Service Worker focuses on Infection Control and Prevention by providing proper cleaning and sanitation throughout the hospital and assigned site campuses Reports to: Supervisor, Environmental Services Job Specific Responsibilities Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
  • Perform cleaning projects, providing support to coordinate and complete minor maintenance tasks, moves, and set ups
  • Facilitate employee training and development
  • Perform area inspections to evaluate and monitor quality performance, efficiency, customer satisfaction and infection control standards.
  • Maintain current area specific records, supply/equipment and inventory control.
  • Assist housekeeping and floor technicians with cleaning patient rooms, isolation rooms, and all other common areas to patient, visitors, and staff, when needed; Cleaning requires exposure to blood, blood borne pathogens, and bodily fluids
  • All other assigned duties related to Environmental Services Education and Experience
Preferred:
High School Diploma or GED.
  • +2 years environmental service experience, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and operating equipment after successful completion of 90 day training; Ability to clean and disinfect areas of blood, bodily fluids, and other pathogens (ie..vomit, urine, etc..) Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations N/A Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of proper handling and disposing of medical infectious waste and soiled linen
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact fairly and appropriately with people of all backgrounds Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships This position will have interaction with patients, their families, and hospital medical staff Physical Capabilities Requires wear or personal protective equipment (PPE); Ability to lift/move various types of equipment, supplies/chemicals, and furniture of light/medium weight.
Work requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting and stretching. Environmental/Working Conditions This position is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental changes that may include varying temperatures. Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning supplies and blood/ blood borne pathogens is high risk.
