Acting as the bridge between frontline staff and management, the Shift Supervisor serves as a key communication link, helping to align service execution with company standards, goals, and expectations. This position is responsible for overseeing service during assigned shifts, providing guidance and support to servers, hosts, bussers, and support staff while maintaining a positive and productive work environment. The Shift Supervisor leads by example, demonstrating professionalism, urgency, accountability, and a commitment to outstanding hospitality. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Support
  • Lead and supervise front-of-house team members during service.
  • Provide real-time coaching, direction, and support to staff to ensure service standards are consistently met.
  • Assist with training new team members and reinforcing company policies, procedures, and service expectations.
  • Foster a positive team culture by promoting collaboration, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Address minor employee concerns and operational challenges while escalating significant issues to management when necessary. Bridging the Gap Between Frontline Staff and Management
  • Serve as the primary communication liaison between management and hourly team members.
  • Effectively communicate management directives, operational updates, service initiatives, and company expectations to frontline staff.
  • Provide management with valuable feedback regarding team morale, operational concerns, guest trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Help ensure employee voices, concerns, and suggestions are communicated professionally and constructively to management.
  • Support the implementation of company initiatives by helping staff understand the purpose and importance behind operational decisions.
  • Promote alignment between leadership objectives and daily service execution. Guest Experience & Service Excellence
  • Monitor dining room operations to ensure guests receive prompt, attentive, and memorable service.
  • Address guest concerns and service recovery opportunities professionally and efficiently.
  • Assist with table visits, guest engagement, and building relationships with regular guests.
  • Ensure all staff maintain high standards of hospitality, appearance, and professionalism.
  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional guest-focused service. Operational Oversight
  • Assist with shift planning, floor coverage, section assignments, and staffing adjustments based on business volume.
  • Monitor service flow and maintain communication between the front and back of house to ensure efficiency.
  • Ensure opening, shift change, and closing procedures are completed accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall readiness of the dining room and service stations.
  • Support adherence to health, safety, and sanitation standards. Performance & Accountability
  • Monitor employee performance and provide immediate feedback and coaching opportunities.
  • Recognize strong performance and encourage team development.
  • Help identify training needs and communicate performance concerns to management.
  • Support company goals related to guest satisfaction, sales growth, labor efficiency, and operational excellence. Qualifications
  • Previous serving experience required.
  • Prior leadership, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to hospitality, teamwork, and guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to lead by example and inspire confidence among team members.
