Position Summary:
The Area Director of Sales and Marketing provides strategic sales leadership across all four assets, with responsibility for driving group, corporate, convention, catering, leisure, and local business. This role is onâ€'site at the Riverwoods Convention Center and oversees four direct reports , including two Sales Managers and two Sales Coordinators . The position partners closely with hotel leadership, convention center management, and restaurant operations to maximize total portfolio revenue through coordinated sales strategies and crossâ€'selling efforts. While the Director of Sales reports directly to the General Manager, the Regional Sales and Marketing Manager will interface and assist in the direction of the Sales and Marketing function at the property. Key responsibilities Local Market Sales Leadership Serve as the primary sales leader for the Logan and Cache Valley market, with deep accountability for local revenue generation across hotels, convention center, and restaurant. Leverage existing local market knowledge and relationships to drive group, convention, corporate, SMERF, catering, and extendedâ€'stay business. Actively develop and maintain relationships with local meeting planners, Utah State University stakeholders, regional businesses, healthcare organizations, associations, and government entities. Represent the portfolio within the community through local networking, civic engagement, tourism partnerships, and chamber involvement. Multiâ€'Asset Revenue Strategy Develop and execute integrated sales strategies that maximize crossâ€'selling opportunities between the two hotels, Riverwoods Convention Center, and Elements Restaurant. Drive local and regional group demand tied to university calendars, seasonal events, conferences, weddings, and community functions. Partner with Revenue Management to support localized pricing strategies, competitive analysis, and demand forecasting. Convention & Catering Focus Lead sales efforts for Riverwoods Convention Center, including conference, wedding, and event business. Align hotel room blocks, catering revenue, and F&B offerings to maximize total portfolio revenue. Support eventâ€'driven marketing initiatives that attract both local and regional attendees. Marketing & Brand Execution Oversee local sales and marketing initiatives, ensuring brand compliance for Marriott hotels while supporting customized local strategies for nonâ€'branded assets. Guide promotional efforts that highlight the portfolio's connection to local demand drivers and community events. Team Leadership & Collaboration Lead and develop a sales team of 4 direct reports, including 2 Sales Managers and 2 Sales Coordinators. Provide handsâ€'on coaching, accountability, and performance management to drive strong local and regional results. Collaborate closely with onâ€'site General Managers, Convention Center leadership, and Restaurant leadership to ensure alignment and execution. Five (5)+ years of progressive hotel sales leadership experience, preferably overseeing multiâ€'property portfolios. Demonstrated success driving group, convention, corporate, SMERF, catering, weddings and extendedâ€'stay business. Strong local market knowledge of Logan, Cache Valley, and Northern Utah, including key demand generators such as Utah State University, regional corporate and healthcare accounts, local associations, and communityâ€'driven events. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with local meeting planners, CVBs, tourism partners, chambers of commerce, and community organizations. Experience tailoring sales strategies to seasonal demand patterns, university calendars, and regional event cycles. Ability to maximize crossâ€'selling opportunities between hotels, convention space, and foodâ€'andâ€'beverage outlets. Marriott brand and system experience preferred. Strong leadership experience managing and developing Sales Managers and Sales Coordinators. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Highly organized, dataâ€'driven, and resultsâ€'oriented. Local candidates with existing market relationships and knowledge of the Logan/Cache Valley area are strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:
$90,000
  • $100,000 annually (commensurate with experience, qualifications, and market alignment)
