Full Job Description Position Overview:

The Hourly Shift Leader at Denny's plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations during assigned shifts. Reporting to the Assistant Restaurant Manager, this position focuses on delivering excellent guest experiences while maintaining operational standards and fostering a positive team environment. It serves as a stepping stone towards a salaried managerial role, providing valuable experience in restaurant management.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational Execution:

Execute daily operational tasks according to Denny's standards, including opening and closing procedures. Ensure all team members understand their roles and responsibilities for the shift. Monitor food quality and service speed, making adjustments as needed to meet guest expectations.

Guest Satisfaction:

Interact with guests to ensure satisfaction and handle any concerns promptly. Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for guests throughout the shift.

Team Leadership and Development:

Lead by example and motivate the team to deliver exceptional service. Provide training and coaching to team members to enhance performance and uphold Denny's standards. Address performance issues and conduct corrective actions as necessary.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards. Follow company policies and procedures, including those related to food handling and safety.

Inventory and Financial Management:

Assist in managing inventory levels during the shift. Contribute to controlling costs, including labor and food expenses, to meet budgetary goals.

Communication and Collaboration:

Maintain open communication with the Assistant Manager and other shift leaders. Collaborate with team members to achieve operational goals and resolve issues efficiently.

Community Engagement:

Support local restaurant marketing initiatives as directed by management. Represent Denny's positively within the local community.

Additional Requirements:

Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Previous restaurant experience preferred. This position is a stepping stone towards a salaried managerial role and reports to the Assistant Manager and General Manager to help facilitate restaurant operations.
