Job Summary:
A Micro-Shelter Shift Lead is responsible for their assigned shift running smoothly, answering questions from their team, collaborating with their team and other shift leads, problem-solving and teaching their staff to do the same, providing necessary training to team members, and ensuring their shift has enough staff present.

Reports to Site Manager
  • maintains clear communication relating to Micro-Shelter clients, staff and operations
  • reports concern, seeks guidance, shares feedback, etc.
Understand and implement Switchpoint's mission, vision and guiding principles. Adhere to Switchpoint policies and procedures including Code of Conduct, Privacy and Confidentiality, Professional Boundaries, etc. Maintain a calm demeanor and model positive behavior. Participates in staff meetings as assigned. Work with a team to oversee the day-to-day operations and upkeep of the site grounds and buildings. Provides staff supervision using positive and clear communication to ensure consistency and unity among the team. Collaborate and communicate regularly with site manager, other shift leads and assigned staff to ensure consistency and quality of service. Conduct Intakes as needed on assigned shift
  • ensuring site rules and regulations are communicated clearly.
Collaborate and coordinate with other agencies and organizations aiding Micro-Shelter clients. Supervise and promote a safe and healthy environment for micro-shelter residents. Provide crisis intervention as needed; de-escalating situations and quickly resolving conflicts with/between residents; being sensitive to recognize symptoms of those who have severe mental health disorders and mental breakdowns. De-escalation skills. Other duties as assigned. Team Management All Micro-Shelter staff are a team and should operate as a united front! Shift Leads are responsible for leading, training and communicating with all staff working their assigned shift Ensure that the Shift Duties are completed on your assigned shift including keeping site clean and safe Lead by example and train your team to embody the Switchpoint Mission, Values and Guiding Principles

Complete Corrective Action with employees when warranted Staffing & Scheduling Create the schedule for their assigned shift Each week's schedule will need to be done by the Sunday prior. Minimum 2 Support Staff per shift Minimum of one Security staff per shift The Micro-Shelter Contract/Budget is for full-time staff only Each staff should be scheduled for 4-5 shifts per week (Sun-Sat) Overtime must be approved by Site Manager Ensure that enough staff are present for each shift All staff should follow the Micro-Shelter Absence/Tardy Policy Once the schedule is posted, staff are responsible to find coverage for assigned shift if they need to call out Shift Lead and Site Manager must be notified of any changes to the schedule Make sure your team is aware of the following process if they are unable to work their assigned shifts for whatever reason Maintain a calm demeanor and model positive behavior. Participates in staff meetings as assigned. Work with a team to oversee the day-to-day operations and upkeep of the site grounds and buildings. Provides staff supervision using positive and clear communication to ensure consistency and unity among the team. Collaborate and communicate regularly with site manager, other shift leads and assigned staff to ensure consistency and quality of service. Recordkeeping & Reporting Report critical incident(s) immediately to Site Director. Complete incident reports within 12 hours of occurrence Ensure documentation of shift in daily logs Reviews, and ensures team reviews daily logs regularly Qualifications & Key Skills Minimum 2 years' experience in Human Services or a similar field. Previous experience working with the homeless population in a shelter environment is highly preferred. Knowledge of domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse issues. Exhibits a positive and compassionate attitude, sensitivity, and the ability to work well with others in a close residential setting. Model positive behavior, appropriate boundaries, and the ability to use sound judgment during times of crisis. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills. Proficient in MS Office Suite and Google Docs. Commitment to serving homeless families and to the mission, vision, and guiding principles of Switchpoint.
