Full Job Description Position Summary:
As a Shift Leader at IHOP, you are responsible for bringing the operation to life during every shift. You lead from the front, direct team members in real time, and ensure service, quality, and operational standards are consistently met. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading others, making decisions in the moment, and building the confidence to grow into broader restaurant leadership.
Responsibilities:
Shift Leadership :
Lead assigned shifts and direct team members to ensure strong operational execution. Assign responsibilities and adjust workflow based on volume, staffing, and business needs. Support service speed, food quality, cleanliness, hospitality, and guest experience throughout the shift.
Team Development:
Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and direction to team members. Reinforce service standards, accountability, and proper shift routines. Support onboarding and training of new team members. Help create a positive team environment where people understand expectations and feel supported.
Operational Control :
Ensure compliance with company policies, cash handling requirements, food safety, safety standards, and service procedures. Communicate shift performance, issues, and opportunities to restaurant leadership. Support opening, closing, recovery efforts, and daypart readiness as needed.

Qualifications:
Ability to lead shift execution across front-of-house and back-of-house Proven reliability and performance in prior restaurant roles Ability to direct team members and maintain standards during service Strong communication and decision-making under pressure Accountability for shift performance and guest experience Ability to resolve issues in real time Demonstrated readiness to step into leadership responsibilities
Physical Requirements:
Standing and walking for extended periods, typically 8 to 12 hours per shift. Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive motion. Ability to move quickly across dining room, kitchen, and service areas. Ability to work near hot equipment, wet floors, and fast-paced restaurant conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform essential job functions.
Work Environment:
Fun, fast-paced, and rewarding full-service restaurant environment with strong leadership expectations. Requires frequent interaction with guests and team members. Nights, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods are required based on restaurant needs.
