Job Description

Position Summary The Hands-On Assistant Shift Supervisor is an active, working leader who supports the Shift Supervisor in running daily operations on the production floor. This role combines leadership with direct involvement in processing, packing, and line support to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The ideal candidate leads by example—working alongside the team, troubleshooting issues in real time, and helping maintain strong standards for safety, quality, and productivity. This is a development role with opportunity for advancement. Key Responsibilities Hands-On Production Leadership
  • Work directly on the production floor alongside employees
  • Assist with line setup, product flow, changeovers, and cleanup
  • Step into key positions as needed to keep production running
  • Help resolve production issues quickly and practically Floor Execution & Support
  • Support execution of daily production plans
  • Help ensure lines are properly staffed and running efficiently
  • Monitor workflow, pace, and labor use throughout the shift
  • Identify and respond to bottlenecks or downtime Team Leadership
  • Provide clear direction and real-time coaching
  • Lead by example in effort, attitude, and reliability
  • Reinforce expectations for safety, quality, and performance
  • Serve as a go-to resource for employees on the floor Training & Development
  • Train and support employees in proper procedures
  • Reinforce standard operating practices through hands-on guidance
  • Help build a flexible, cross-trained workforce
  • Provide input on employee performance to supervisors Food Safety & Quality
  • Ensure adherence to GMPs, HACCP, and sanitation standards
  • Monitor product quality during processing and packing
  • Address and report any food safety or quality concerns immediately
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area Safety
  • Model safe behavior and proper PPE usage
  • Watch for and correct unsafe conditions or actions
  • Support incident reporting and follow-up Communication & Coordination
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members
  • Assist with shift handoffs and production updates
  • Help complete basic reporting and documentation Qualifications
  • Experience in food processing or manufacturing is helpful, but not required
  • Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Openness to training in food safety practices (GMPs, HACCP) Working Conditions

We are a farmer-owned Cooperative that turns our growers' raspberries and blueberries into IQF fruit or high-quality purees. We have a good team of workers and looking forward to adding onto our team. We have some new equipment that we hope to start operating as we get time and the people to start the new projects. We work a lot of hours in the summer but try to get people 1 day a week off during the harvest season if wanted.
