Job Description

School Food Services Kitchen Lead For best consideration, apply by 5 pm on April 9, 2026. Purpose of the Job Under the supervision of the food service director or superintendent her/ his designee, perform skilled cooking duties and coordinate services to ensure high-quality standards of food production and service. Participate in meal preparation, food ordering, following USDA Federal regulations in compliance and understanding of the
NSLP/SBP.
Essential Job Functions Follows and maintains define standards of sanitation for personnel, food preparation, kitchen equipment, and the cafeteria unit. Follow health departments person in charge responsibilities to include food safety certification and health department food handlers card. Attends relevant training classes workshops and meetings as requested or required. Participate in the preparation and service of meals within an established production system. Follow standardized recipes in preparation, portioning service and food handling techniques Responsible for ordering food and supplies according to established procedures to maintain minimum stock levels subject to the approval of the supervisor. Inventory, order, receive, and account for foods supplies, delivered to schools. Follow established procedures that identify meals for USDA reimbursement. Open cans, apportions contents, and be responsible for the preparation of all menu items including scratch cooking. Ability to follow and maintain standardized recipes and documentation for verification of standardize recipes. Serve food in proper portions based on standardized recipes and federal regulations, follows establish procedures that identify meals for USDA reimbursement Washes dishes, all utensils. Utilizing handwashing and a commercial dishwasher. Effectively complete cashiering duties and point of sale meal counting services with accurate counting. Maintaining production records accurately documenting and crediting correct USDA meal pattern guidelines. Work with their food service Director or superintendent his/ her designee. Assist in planning menus and maintaining documentation. Maintain documentation for state audits to include, procedures, policies, production records, point of sale rosters, and reports to verify proper accountability of meal served. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the food service Director or superintendent or his/ her designee. Qualifications Education and experience High school graduate. Prior experience in school food service or commercial food service employment with a minimum of three(3) years. Knowledge skills and abilities Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures. Skills to perform basic math calculations, communicate effectively, use standard office equipment including calculator and computers. Must maintain a food handlers permit. Must successfully complete Serv-Safe certificate program every five years Must attend in-service trainings, menu meetings and other meetings as required my management. Evidence of leadership abilities. Knowledge of Basic food handling techniques, safety work practices, and ability to use kitchen tools and equipment. Excellent attendance, punctuality, dependability, self-discipline, and a self-starter. Ability to lift and carry loads weighing up to 50 pounds.
