Job Overview Join our vibrant outdoor adventure team as a Redwood Canoe Guide, where you will lead groups through scenic waterways, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all participants. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to share your passion for nature, water sports, and outdoor education while fostering a welcoming environment for diverse guests. As a Redwood Canoe Guide, you will be responsible for instructing participants on paddling techniques, safety protocols, and Yurok environmental stewardship, all while demonstrating leadership and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities Lead canoe trips along designated routes, providing clear instructions and demonstrations to ensure participant safety and confidence Educate guests on paddling techniques, water safety, and local wildlife or environmental features to enhance their experience Monitor weather conditions and water levels to adapt plans as needed, maintaining safety at all times Manage group dynamics by engaging participants with enthusiasm and ensuring inclusive participation for all skill levels Conduct pre-trip equipment checks, including paddles, life jackets, and safety gear, to ensure everything is in optimal condition Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies or incidents on the water, coordinating with emergency services if necessary Foster a positive atmosphere by encouraging teamwork, good sportsmanship, and environmental responsibility Qualifications Bilingual or multilingual abilities are highly desirable to connect with diverse guests Demonstrated leadership skills with experience guiding groups or leading activities in outdoor settings Strong public speaking and communication skills to effectively instruct and engage participants of all ages Excellent customer service orientation with a friendly, approachable demeanor Proven time management skills to coordinate trips efficiently while maintaining flexibility for weather or unforeseen changes Experience in teaching or coaching water sports or outdoor activities is preferred Ability to stand, paddle, and navigate waterways for extended periods; comfort in varying weather conditions Join us as a Redwood Canoe Guide and be part of an energetic team dedicated to creating inspiring outdoor adventures!
