Site Manager, Roseland Cottage

Historic New England seeks a full-time Site Manager for the management and marketing of two museum property locations; Roseland Cottage in Woodstock, CT and Merwin House in Stockbridge, MA. An adept multi-tasker experienced in managing historic site operations, the Site Manager serves as HNE's liaison to the communities and operates the museums in conjunction with other HNE teams and within procedures established by the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Initiates and supports efforts to meet or exceed established attendance and revenue goals through innovative fundraising, membership, marketing, programs, general tour admissions, group tours, museum shop sales and community relations. Serves as the first line in monitoring for pest management, property care and collection concerns, bringing issues to the attention of responsible staff. Helps coordinate on-site property and collections care work. Hires, trains, and supervises house guides, volunteers and interns. Trains interpreters on tour content, guide professionalism, point-of-sale technology, and security measures as well as handling objects and preventive care. Ensures the best possible visitor experience by regular assessment of all public services including regular evaluation of guides and soliciting ongoing feedback from visitors. In conjunction with the functions staff, oversees on-site private events including weddings, parties, meetings, etc. Supports revenue and attendance goals for on-site private events. Valid driver's license and means of transportation. New England region residency required by start of work. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, masters preferred, preferably in museum studies, historic preservation, American history, art or cultural history with four years job-related experience or equivalent combination of skilled credentials Experience with non-profit institutions managing historic site operations, including financial skills is required, along with supervisory experience, problem-solving ability, familiarity with team approach and multi-tasking, and strong communication skills Fully competent computer skills, including word processing and database use, strong verbal and written communication skills Valid driver's license and means of transportation New England region residency required by start of work Commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, excellence, and Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA).
