Bring your passion for recreation, leadership, and community engagement to Charlotte County as a Recreation Specialist! In this dynamic role, you'll create memorable experiences by planning, organizing, and leading a variety of recreational programs, sports, and activities at County parks and facilities. As a key part of our team, you'll inspire participants of all ages while fostering a fun, safe, and welcoming environment. From preparing equipment and coordinating event logistics to coaching activities and supporting community programs, every day offers the opportunity to make a positive impact. Education and Experience:
An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Six (6) months of experience in customer service, physical education, recreation, summer camp programs, or volunteerism. Licenses and/or Certificates:
Must maintain a valid driver's license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of departmental policies, plans, and procedures. Knowledge of modern office practices, plans, and procedures. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other job-related computer programs and software applications. Knowledge of rules, regulations, safety precautions, and first aid of various competitive athletic games. Knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of personal health and fitness. Knowledge of recreational activities suitable for children and adults. Knowledge of standard office computer equipment and software applications, as well as cash registers. Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing. Skill in prioritizing and organizing work. Skill in the use of office equipment such as a computer, multi-line telephone system, scanner, fax machine, and copier. Ability to score various sports. Ability to lead and instruct children and adults in the assigned recreational activities. Ability to maintain discipline and to solve disciplinary problems. Ability to contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to work late nights, early mornings, on weekends and holidays. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to ascertain priorities and meet deadlines and objectives. Ability to maintain basic records and reports. Ability to provide internal/external guidance and customer assistance via all forms of communication. Ability to use computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes. Ability to author reports, business correspondence . Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, service providers, other employees, and the general public. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception. Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed both indoors and outdoors, potentially exposed to temperature changes dust, biting/stinging insects and outdoor weather conditions inclusive of heat, sun, rain, and wind. RISK/SAFETY CONDITIONS
