Tour Guide

This position involves acting as a tour guide of Magnolia Mound historic house, providing information, answering questions, opening/closing the gate and building, souvenir and ticket sales, cash remittance, serving refreshments. There is considerable personal interaction, mainly face to face , with the general public.

Education:

High school graduate; some college preferred.

Other:

One - two years experience in sales or as a tour guide or both; experience in a public/service position. Basic Mathematical aptitude. Ability to operate electronic cash register. Some knowledge of and interest in history (preferably Louisiana ); strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well with the public; good speaking voice and professional presentation. Duties include, but are not limited to: Greeting customers Providing information Answering questions while guiding tours of house and property Opening and closing gate, house, kitchen, gift shop Selling goods in shop Accepting an accounting for cash Balancing cash receipts Setting up and serving refreshments. 5-6 hours per day, 29 hours per week, with some weekend work.
