Veterans Museum Baton Rouge, LA Job Details Part-time $9 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Retail sales transactions Counting cash Public speaking High school diploma or GED Store opening/closing procedures Cash register operations POS systems Full Job Description Overview Trained to serve as tour guide, gift shop cashier, quarterdeck duty officer, overnight camping guide, and limited duty custodian. Provide an educational experience while safely guiding groups of varying ages through the ship. Open and close ship, greet visitors, provide a safety briefing, and answer questions with acquired knowledge. Sell tickets and souvenirs and handle cash and credit transactions responsibly. Clean and restock restrooms and museum building and ship, as needed. Reporting to the Business Manager, Ship Superintendent, or designee, the Visitor Experience Crewmember will be assigned additional job duties as needed. Part-time position Weekends Required Must be at least 18 years old Responsibilities Reports to the Operations Manager in providing a valued experience to all Museum guests. Required to learn and understand the history of the USS KIDD and have a general understanding of the WWII time period. Provide an educational experience while safely guiding groups of various ages through the ship. Open and close the ship, greet visitors, provide a safety briefing, and answer questions with acquired knowledge. Sell tickets and souvenirs and handle cash and credit transactions responsibly. Clean and restock restrooms, police the museum compound and/or sweep the ship as needed during Museum operating hours, as well routinely at the end of each business day. Required to wear either plain or KIDD-related clothing while on duty. No representative of the Museum can be seen as advocating for anything other than the Museum. May be requested to work, as needed, on after-hours Museum special events.
